LG announced last year that they would be one of the first manufacturers to bring 5G phones to the masses and with the new year kicking in, and we finally have confirmation that the Korean manufacturer is ready to announce its first 5G device at the Mobile World Congress. The event is scheduled in Barcelona next month, and we expect the device to be LG’s flagship for this year.
LG did not reveal too many details just yet, and all we know is that the new device will be launching through the Korean manufacturer’s partnership with Sprint. The phone is expected to come with the latest Snapdragon 855 processor, which is the successor to the 845 that was seen last year on a number of flagship devices. The new phone will be powered by a 4,000 mAh battery which is a significant upgrade from its predecessor the V40 that came with a 3,300 mAh battery.
It is important to have great processing power as 5G’s blazing fast speeds need devices to have minimal load times for any kind of content. LG has reportedly included a larger heat pipe than the V40 to prevent the device from heating. With 5G not being available all over the world just yet, the device will offer support for 4G LTE as well for users in non-5G regions.
Huawei is also set to unveil a 5G phone with the Chinese manufacturer stating that they will be showcasing a foldable smartphone with the new tech in Beijing. Huawei chief Richard Yu had confirmed the news last year and said the device still needs a lot of improvements and it remains to be seen what’s in store from other manufacturers as well. Apple will also be bringing the technology to its iPhone 2019 lineup later this year according to reports, and Google’s Pixel 4 lineup should come with 5G support as well. 4
