Fans are still trying to process what happened in Squid Game season 2. But many can’t wait and the clamoring for season 3 has already begun. If a new leak is to be trusted, then the release date for the next season of the series has been revealed already. In this article, we will disclose the leaked Squid Game season 3 release date. 

What is the Leaked Release date of Squid Game Season 3?

Netflix Korea briefly released a video that had the specific date of Friday, Jun. 27, 2025, listed as the release date of Squid Game season 3. Till now, we knew that season 3 was coming in 2025, but the exact date was unknown. However, official confirmation is still awaited regarding the release date. 

Yet, it’s not difficult to understand how Netflix is able to release season 3 so soon. After all, seasons 2 and 3 were shot back-to-back. So, all that’s remaining is the post-production work on the last season of the main series. 

Squid Game Creator Reveals Original Plans for Seasons 2 and 3

If this release date is correct, then season 3 would be released within six months of the previous season’s release. This is a record turn-around time especially since it took three years to release season 2. However, this was expected. 

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the showrunner behind Squid Game, revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he had envisioned seasons 1 and 2 as one season. He said, “I originally envisioned seasons 2 and 3 as a single story. That's how I wrote it. But in the process, it came out to be too many episodes. So I thought it'd be better to divide it into two.”

In an interview with Variety, he elaborated on his statement and said, “When I first wrote the story of Seasons 2 and 3 it was one long story arc. And I was originally planning to write this story across a span of about eight to nine episodes, but once I finished the story, it came to over 10 episodes, which I thought was too long to contain in a single season.” 

Squid Game seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix.
