La Dolce Villa is a family film that arrived right in time for Valentine’s Day. The film follows Eric, a widowed father who follows his daughter to Italy when he learns that she wants to buy and renovate a one-Euro Italian Villa. While he initially thinks that it’s a waste of time and money, once he gets to Montezara, he changes his mind.Â
Together the father-daughter duo work on their one-Euro Italian house and along the way, they spend time with the community. There, Eric finds that new romantic options might be available for him. In this article, we will discuss how the film ended and if Eric got his happily ever after.Â
Yes, Olivia does get to own her dream Italian home in the end. However, the road to that was incredibly complicated. Initially, the home belonged to Grumpy Mario, but it was later taken over as part of the Mayor’s initiative. Francesca had sent correspondence regarding it to the distant relatives, The Longos, a long back.Â
However, upon receiving no reply for a long time, the Mayor allowed Olivia to become its owner. However, while The Longos had no interest in a dilapidated old house, they certainly became interested when they saw that it had been fixed. Inheritance laws state that since Grumpy Mario’s house was never officially donated like the other homes. So, The Longos could inherit it.Â
However, the town’s older ladies offer a way out- they reveal that Grumpy Mario’s family’s last name was Leonie, which is different from Leone, who are The Longos’ ancestors. Francesca finds that this is indeed true and so the villa becomes Olivia’s again.Â
Eric and Francesca do unite in the end. Initially, Eric thought that uprooting his life in America to settle down in Italy without a plan could be disastrous for him and his relationship. Olivia’s villa getting almost taken away from her also seemed like a sign to him that he needed to get his life in order before he gave their relationship another shot.Â
So, even though Francesca solved the situation, and Olivia got her villa back, it was too late. Eric has already departed for the train station. Francesca chased after him and found that the train had already left the station. However, Eric was still there as he had never got on the train. So, they unite and decide to give their love a real shot. Â
While Eric finds love with Francesca, Olivia finds it with Giovanni. She also finds her love of interior designing while renovating the villa and decides to pursue an apprenticeship in Rome. Her father being in Italy helps her decision to complete the course freely rather than second-guess having to do it alone.Â
As for Eric, he and Francesca start their homemade cooking lessons, which become successful. So, he merges his Main Course Consulting and Perfect Plate Consulting businesses into one. His American co-workers handle the Perfect Plate consultation business while Eric becomes the Italian ambassador for Montezara. In the end, both find their happy endings in life.Â
