The Web is still recovering from a recent (groundbreaking) announcement by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The all-new Raspberry Pi 4B is now available, which came as a surprise to many Raspberry Pi enthusiasts. It’s also a known fact that this tiny computer is often used by fans of Kodi, who have created a lively and vibrant online community. Well, developers of Kodi are well-aware of that, which is why they’ve now announced a new ‘Kodi Edition’ Raspberry Pi 4B case, already available for pre-order.
Without any doubt, we’ll see the new Raspberry Pi board taking the (Kodi) world by storm. The new board brings support for 4K media files, greatly improved CPU, faster RAM, faster Ethernet data transfer, faster USB data transfer, and it now handles HEVC natively. If you wish to install Kodi on a Raspberry Pi board, this means that you’ll be able to take full advantage of Kodi v18 ‘Leia’.
Of course, to make your Raspberry Pi setup look nice, you need a quality-made case. There’s plenty of different options on the market, but Kodi’s developers have been promoting cases made by Flirc for a while now. Unsurprisingly, Flirc has now released an official ‘Kodi Edition’ case for the 4B board model, following the footsteps of its previous products.
The new case is made of aluminum and acts as a thoughtfully designed heatsink that keeps your powerful Raspberry Pi setup cool. Cloaked in metallic jet black, this piece of hardware is a true eye-candy. The top edge comes polished, while anodized silver creates a mirror-like effect. Of course, Flirc has taken care of various other details as well. You’ll find rubber feet that raise the enclosure, as well as small ventilation slots at the bottom. It’s also worth noting that you can access your SD card from the front side of the case, which means that there’s no need to open the case each time you want to access the memory card.
The official Flirc ‘Kodi Edition’ Raspberry Pi 4B case is already in production. Pre-orders are live, and you can grab an early bird discount (30% off). This means that you’ll pay $11.20 while pre-orders are live, while the standard price will be $15.95. The case will start shipping in late July.
Finally, it’s also worth noting that Kodi’s developers receive a royalty on each of ‘Kodi Edition’ cases made by Flirc. As you surely know, Kodi comes free-of-charge. This means that aside from selling t-shirts via their website, these ‘Kodi Edition’ cases are one of the main sources of funding for the Kodi Foundation.
