Jurassic World Rebirth will be released worldwide in theaters on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Positioned as one of the major summer blockbusters, its premiere coincides with the Fourth of July weekend in the US, setting the stage for a massive box office draw.
Set five years after Jurassic World Dominion, Jurassic World: Rebirth takes place in a world where Earth's ecology has become largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. The remaining creatures survive only in isolated equatorial regions, which mimic the climates they once thrived in. These regions are home to three colossal dinosaur species, whose DNA holds the key to a miraculous life-saving drug for humanity.
Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a covert ops expert leading a top-secret mission to extract this vital genetic material. Joining her is Mahershala Ali as her trusted partner, Duncan Kincaid, and Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist. Rupert Friend plays Martin Krebs, a representative from the pharmaceutical conglomerate who is funding the expedition.
As Zora’s team embarks on their mission, they encounter a civilian family whose boat was capsized by aquatic dinosaurs, leaving them all stranded on a remote island. Together, they uncover a shocking and sinister discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.
Jurassic World: Rebirth is directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, who returns to the franchise after his work on the original Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The film introduces a fresh cast and promises a new era for the Jurassic saga, building on the legacy of its predecessors while offering a thrilling and mysterious adventure.
Although there isn't a trailer for Jurassic World: Rebirth yet, a brief video showcasing the film's new logo has been released online. Take a look below.
Jurassic World: Rebirth picks up five years after Dominion, where humans and dinosaurs coexist, but not without tension. Johansson's Zora encounters a family stranded after a boating trip goes awry due to aggressive aquatic dinosaurs, highlighting that peace is fragile in this new world order. Set in a world still evolving from Dominion, Rebirth offers a chance to rebuild the franchise after Dominion's poor critical reception, aiming to reinvigorate the series with fresh world-building and a stronger narrative.
This new dinosaur movie features a fresh cast, including Johansson, Ali, and Bailey. In contrast, the previous three films starred Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the lead roles.
Jurassic World Rebirth began filming in Thailand in June 2024, followed by location shoots in Malta from July to September, before wrapping up interior scenes at Sky Studios Elstree near London.
Gareth Edwards, known for Monsters, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and The Creator, is directing the film from a script by David Koepp, the writer behind the original 1993 Jurassic Park. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing, with Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart, and Jim Spencer serving as executive producers.
