Jason Momoa as Lobo: Actor Ditches Aquaman for a new DC role 

Jason Momoa was the DCEU’s Aquaman and has appeared as the hero in two solo films- Aquaman (2018) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). But the DCEU is over. So now Momoa has been cast in a new role that fans have been fan-casting him in for years- Lobo. In this article, we will discuss everything we know about Momoa’s new role. 

Is Jason Momoa the new Lobo actor? 

Deadline has confirmed that Jason Momoa will play Lobo in the DCU. The Game of Thrones actor was linked to the role even before James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the reins of the DC universe. On Dec. 30, 2024, Jason Momoa took to his Instagram to confirm his attachment to the role. Check out his post below:

He wrote, "I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, 'Hello? It’s the perfect role.'" The actor then said that if DC come around to asking him to play Lobo, it would be "a f*ck yeah." In the caption, Momoa wrote, "They Called," thus confirming his role.  

Are they Making a Movie About Lobo?

There has been no announcement yet that DC Studios is making a film on Lobo. For now, it looks like Jason Momoa will appear as the character in other DC Studios films. In the pages of DC Comics, Lobo is known as a violent antihero from the planet Czarnia. 

He possesses superhuman strength and regenerative powers that make him a formidable opponent. Lobo was created by artist Keith Giffen and writer Roger Slifer, and introduced in the June 1983 issue 3 of Omega Men. 

Is Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow?

Yes, it has been confirmed that Jason Momoa will appear as Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl film called Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. There are no details right now about the capacity Jason Momoa’s Lobo will appear in the Supergirl film. 

The movie is based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, illustrated by Bilquis Evely. The film will be directed by Craig Gillespie with a script from a script by Ana Nogueira. Production will begin on Jan. 13, 2025.
