Release Date & Where to Watch
Originally scheduled for theatrical release on Feb. 9, 2024, and later June 21, 2024, the film’s release has been rescheduled to Aug. 9, 2024. The drama and romance film is rated PG-13 for domestic violence, sexual content, and strong language.
It Ends With Us will be available for streaming on Netflix sometime in December 2024.
Plot
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni will bring Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel It Ends With Us to life, and Christy Hall, known for Daddio, will write the script.
The novel, a global hit that topped the New York Times Bestseller List for over 90 weeks and garnered over 2 billion TikTok views, follows Lily Bloom, who starts a new life in Boston. Escaping the memory of her father’s abuse, Lily discovers her mother’s hidden pain and falls for neurosurgeon Ryle. Despite Ryle’s initial reluctance for a relationship, they eventually get together.
However, Ryle’s violent behavior, revealed when he pushes Lily, causes Lily to reconnect with her childhood love, Atlas, who suspects abuse. As Lily grapples with her mother’s past and her own experiences, she embarks on a journey to break the cycle of abuse.

Where is It Ends With Us Filmed?
It Ends with Us was filmed in Hoboken, Jersey City, and Boston. Filming began in Hoboken on May 5, 2023, at Field Colony. After a pause due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it resumed in Jersey City's Newport neighborhood on Jan. 5, 2024. Scenes were also shot in Boston at the Longfellow Bridge and the Zakim Bridge.
Behind the Scenes
It Ends With Us is the first of Colleen Hoover’s books to be adapted into a Sony Pictures and Wayfarer Studios film. Justin Baldoni, who stars in the movie, will also be the director. He has directed Clouds and Five Feet Apart, and is known for his podcast and bestselling books.
Alex Saks and Jamey Heath are producing, with Lively and Hoover as executive producers alongside Steve Sarowitz, Andrew Calof, and Baldoni. Wayfarer Studios, co-financing the project, optioned the book in 2019 and has been working with Hoover since.
