Season 5 of the show is currently airing but fans are eager to know if this is the last season of Yellowstone. After all, there’s a lot of conflicting information about the renewal or cancelation of the hit series. In this article, we will discuss whether season 5 of Yellowstone is the last or if season 6 is still a possibility.
The answer is yes, at least for now. Yellowstone will end with season 5. In May 2023 it was confirmed that the fifth season was going to wrap up the series. Since then, one major thing has happened- Kevin Costner has exited his role of John Dutton.
Following this, there were reports back in August 2024 that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser were in talks about reprising their roles as Beth and Rip in a sixth season. However, after Yellowstone season 5 episode 11, where we saw Dawn Olivieri's Sarah get shot down, director and executive producer Christina Alexandra confirmed some type of ending was coming with the end of this season.
In an interview with Variety she said, “I think this last batch of episodes leads us to the end of an era… I think [co-creator and writer] Taylor [Sheridan] has managed to — and I’m really not sure how he’s done it, I think it’s sort of masterful — bring the ending to something that feels both shocking and fated at the same time.”
She also added, “You need to get to the end of the story to fully understand everything that has come before."
So, if the show is indeed renewed for season 6, we will keep you updated with the latest news here. Also, een if the show gets another season and production begins immediately, it would still take Yellowstone to return in early 2026 at the earliest.
New episodes of Yellowstone season 5 part 2 will air every Sunday at 8 P.M. ET on the Paramount Network. While the new episodes of Yellowstone aren’t available on Paramount+, it can be streamed on Paramount Network's website with a TV provider login.
