Spider-Man may be a Marvel character, but the question remains whether or not the film is available on Disney Plus, alongside the rest of the content from this particular franchise. So, is Spider-Man: Far From Home on Disney Plus?
Spider-Man: Far From Home is the most recent film featuring the character. Released in 2019, the film is a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, and it's the last movie from the Marvel Phase 3 of movie releases.
The movie features Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, J.B. Smoove, Jacob Batalon, Martin Starr, Marisa Tomei, and many others.
Unfortunately, the Spider-Man film is not part of the library on Disney Plus right now. In fact, none of the Spider-Man movies are on that list whatsoever, except for animations.
Unlike other Marvel movies, the situation with Spider-Man is a bit more complicated. Over the years, Sony has produced a bunch of Spider-man movies and continues to do that. In fact, there was a big scandal a couple of years ago, as neither Disney nor Sony were willing to back out, and Spider-Man movies and the character itself was very nearly outed from the Universe. The day was saved by Tom Holland himself, as he managed to convince the two giants to reach a deal.
Anyway, the Spider-Man comics are under Marvel and Disney, but Sony owns the rights to the Spider-Man movies. Buying any Spider-Man merch will put more money into the pockets of Marvel and Disney.
Either way, the licensing rights for Spider-Man: Far From Home were not offered to Disney Plus. "We love our friends at Sony, but we don't have any plans to have the live-action Spider-Man movies on Disney Plus," said Ricky Strauss, Disney's head of content and marketing for Disney Plus, in a statement for The Verge.
If you're hoping to watch the latest Spider-Man film in the United States, you can definitely stream it on Hulu. In other countries, you'll find the movie up on Netflix.
Whichever way you choose to watch Spider-Man movies, we hope you have as much fun as we did.
