Snow White 2025 is proving to be divisive with audiences. It has an IMDb score of 2.1/ 10 with 50k votes. In comparison, the original 1937 animated film has a 7.6/ 10 rating with 224k votes. It’s interesting to note that the new remake has a high volume of 1-star reviews. So, the question now is- Is the film getting review bombed on IMDb?
2025 Snow White’s IMDb rating page shows that the film has got at the time of writing, 39k 1-star votes. This means that more than 79% of the total votes cast, which is 50k, are 1-star reviews. This is the vote split for the rest of the numbers:Â
With IMDb, there’s no way to know if a reviewer has seen the film or not. This anonymity allows people who hate the movie for myriad reasons to jump on the review-bomb bandwagon. This issue was also prevalent on Rotten Tomatoes before the site began categorizing reviews into verified and non-verified categories to prevent bandwagon review-bombing. IMDb doesn’t have any such safeguard as of now.Â
That can only be decided by someone who decides to watch the film. It’s undeniable that the film is getting bashed online for multiple reasons despite positive critic reviews. Rachel Zegler’s controversial remarks and Gal Gadot’s presence in the film are making audiences shy away from it.Â
To make matters worse, the changes made to the animated classic are also turning away filmgoers. The film in itself is also not impressing the people who did decide to watch it. It has garnered a B+ CinemaScore.Â
While B+ isn’t a bad score, the recent Mufasa: The Lion King earned an A- grade, and 15 years ago, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, earned an A- grade. Also, 2019’s Aladdin earned an A CinemaScore from audiences. As per Variety, the film has a price tag of more than $250 million, so it will be a steep climb to profitability for it.Â
Have you seen the film? Let us know your thoughts. Does it deserve the barrage of 1-star ratings?Â
