‘Ivacy VPN,’ one of the best VPN products out there, has joined the IoXT club with impetus, clearing all 45 security test requirements that granted it the relevant certification. The IoXT Alliance was created in April 2021 to introduce a set of strict privacy and security features that would be linked with a confirming certification. For VPN products, IoXT used the guidelines defined by the “VPN Trust Initiative” that was launched in September 2020, certifying ExpressVPN, NordVPN, OpenVPN, PIA VPN, and Google One.
For Ivacy VPN, getting this “seal of approval” is yet another confirmation that it follows top-notch security and data privacy practices. The process itself isn’t light by any means, as it includes several tests designed to find security holes, risks, and vulnerabilities, the ability to resist a range of attacks, network traffic obfuscation and encryption, and more. In summary, the IoXT certification is like an audit, and high-quality VPN products that go through such audits yearly should have no trouble clearing the 45 requirements.
For the consumer, what you need to keep in mind is that the IoXT certification is now becoming an industry-standard created specifically to help you determine which product is trustworthy and which could be risky. The absence of this certification doesn’t mean that a VPN product is not to be trusted, especially at this early point in the adoption of the new standard. On the other side, its presence surely indicates that you can have peace of mind.
Admittedly, large VPN firms are already very meticulous when it comes to protecting the privacy of their users. You should be looking for the IoXT certification more fondly on IoT (internet of things) devices and their accompanying software, where the situation is a lot worse.
