Instagram is working on a number of changes to profile pages on its app to make it easier for users to connect with their followers or friends. Over the next few weeks, a number of design changes will be making it into the app and the social media platform will be closely monitoring user feedback to make adjustments.
Instagram revealed in its official blog “Your profile is where you share who you are on Instagram, so starting today we’re testing ways you can better express yourself and more easily connect with the people you care about on your profile.” The platform wants to expand upon its focus on user profiles by making the quality of life changes. While no new features have been announced, we did get a sneak peek into what we can expect via some screenshots shared by the social media platform.
The platform wants to move around features and icons on profile pages to make navigation easier. Some of the icons may get a complete design overhaul as well. Navigation on the app will be tweaked to make it easier to move across various sections and Instagram has promised a much cleaner look. There will be no change to photos and videos and they will remain just the way they are for now. Not everyone will get access to the features as they roll out. Instagram will be testing them in phases and depending on user experience and feedback they will be tweaked before the global rollout.
The platform is not only making changes to the UI but internal changes are happening as well with a crackdown on fake followers ongoing. The social media giant wants to get rid of any kind of inauthentic engagements on the platform and we can expect to see a drop in the number of users in the coming weeks as there are thousands of online services that offer fake Instagram followers using bot accounts.
