As the streaming wars rage on and all stakeholders look for ways to strengthen their position and establish a stronger presence in the market, news about partnerships see the light almost daily. First, the Amazon-owned IMDb TV is now joining Comcast’s Xfinity Flex and Xfinity X1 platforms, which comes soon after the broadcasting giant announced the availability of Hulu Live TV for its subscribers. And second, Spectrum TV returns to the Roku platform after the former was removed in December 2020 following a failure in the renewal negotiations between the two.
For IMDb TV, this is the first time they partner with a paid TV service provider. The highlight titles for the free streaming app include TV shows such as titles like “Chicago Fire,” “All in the Family,” “Mad Men,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” and “How to Train Your Dragon.” Xfinity subscribers will now be able to just say “IMDb TV” into the Xfinity Voice Remote and then control the playback through voice commands as usual.
The news about Spectrum TV returning to Roku’s Channel Store is guaranteed to make a large number of owners of the popular streaming devices happy too. All they need to do is to download the app, sign in with their existing Charter credentials, and start streaming. If the users don’t have an account, they will be able to create one directly through the Roku device.
Spectrum TV offers access to channels such as CNN, CNBC, Cartoon Network, E!, Fox, ESPN, NFL, Food Network, TNT, Telemundo, Universal Kids, NBC Sports, Disney Now, History, Adult Swim, NBC, Animal Planet, Discovery, MTV, Paramount Network, the Weather Channel, CBS, NBA, HBO Max, and the Smithsonian Channel. It’s basically a live TV and on-demand hub from where people can access a galore of content. Unfortunately, there’s no special promotional subscription offer this time.
