Super League: The War for Football is a four-part documentary series that chronicles the infamously unsuccessful attempt by some of the top soccer teams in the world, like Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, to create a Super League.
The series follows the high-stakes conflict that breaks out when proposals for a breakaway league surface and the past, present, and future of European football collide, leaving the game's most influential figures to defend or overthrow the traditions of the sport. The docu-series gives viewers the previously untold narrative of how and why this proposal was conceived, as well as the battle plans that were prepared to oppose it, with the help of unrestricted access to league presidents, club owners, and the architects of the European Super League.
Jeff Zimbalist, All Rise Films’ Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, is the series director and executive producer. It is also executive produced by Words + Pictures’ Emmy Award-winner, Connor Schell, and produced by Libby Geist.
