One of the most iconic Shoujo anime series of all time, Sailor Moon follows the story of a 14-year-old girl named Usagi Tsukino. Tsukino is a clumsy girl who receives the ability to transform into her alter ego called Sailor Moon after she meets a magical talking cat, Luna. Though she's apprehensive about her abilities at first, she soon accepts her fate.

Throughout the series, Tsukino is on a quest to rid the world of the evil forces from the Dark Kingdom. She makes friends, falls in love, and much more during her journey, all while fighting evil as her full-time job! The fun thing about Sailor Moon is that anyone watching will never be bored during an episode.

The series hardly ever has a dull moment! Moreover, every character introduced has a satisfactory story and a significant role when considering the big picture. Sailor Moon has two different versions, the first one being Sailor Moon (1992) and the second being Sailor Moon Crystal (2014).

The recommended order for watching Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal is the order they were released in. Fans can skip the fillers of the original anime if they seem unnecessary. Movies should be watched after the completion of every season! Fans looking to watch the original series can check it out on Hulu. On the other hand, fans looking to watch the 2014 Sailor Moon series can check it out on Crunchyroll.

Which Version of Sailor Moon Should You Watch?

The 1992 anime has a lot of fillers, but we don't recommend skipping any of them. On the other hand, Sailor Moon Crystal lacks fillers and is more fast-paced. Season 3 of the 2014 anime series adapts the infinity arc much better than the original. Although, the original series does a better job of developing the main characters.

Even though the original Sailor Moon series was first released three decades ago, it has better animation. Moreover, Season 1 and 2 of Sailor Moon Crystal has often been criticized by fans because of their sloppy CGI. Fans who wish to watch the original series rather than the 2014 series must remember that the fillers are important.

The fillers in the 1992 anime give much more information about the characters, making the character development in the series satisfying. What's more, important battles and stories also seem more interesting if you watch the fillers.
