A story that'll remind you of Zac Efron's 17 Again, ReLIFE is a slice of life romantic series that follows 27-year-old NEET Arata Kaizaki. Like most NEETs in anime, Kaizaki is pretty useless, especially after quitting his stable job. He makes ends meet by working part-time and fails every interview.
However, unlike a normal shut-in, Kaizaki is given a chance to have a new or a re-life! He meets a man named Ryo Yoake, who offers him a job in exchange for being a test subject. When Kaizaki takes the pill, he turns into a 17-year-old with a brand new chance to change his life. While he attends high school once again, he realizes that life is much more complicated at 17 than he remembered.
ReLIFE is a slice-of-life anime that presents a unique story with realistic characters in an easy-to-follow manner. The story is fairly simple, with several side-plots going on simultaneously. The series is also fast-paced and will keep you glued to your seat! While the series is light-hearted and fun, it does require you to pay attention.
ReLIFE also keeps it interesting with well-developed and intriguing side characters, just as significant as the main character. Unlike most main characters in anime that portray introverts, Kaizaki is not a simple-minded otaku but an actual adult with a few bad habits. The character is realistically written, which makes him easy to relate to.
ReLIFE has one season and four special episodes/ OVAs. The special is rushed and not very well-executed as compared to the series. Fans looking to read the manga series should skip the Special episodes. Fans interested in reading the manga of ReLIFE should begin reading from chapter 98 since it covers the last arc in the TV series differently.
Fans looking to watch ReLIFE can check it out on Crunchyroll. The platform also features the series in the English dubbed version.
