Even though the iPhone 13 lineup retains the same pricing structure as the last year’s models, we all know that iPhones aren’t the most affordable devices. And with that said, you’ll want to know if your phone will serve you for a long time to come. That is the reason why durability and drop tests are so important. So, let’s check how durable is the iPhone 13 generation.

The following content applies to all four iPhone models introduced just recently (iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max). Make sure to read this article carefully, as we’ll highlight the differences between 'standard' and 'pro' models in terms of their durability.

How Durable Is the iPhone 13?

In general, the iPhone 13 lineup comes with the same overall durability as the previous iPhone generation, as their build quality is practically the same.

This is good news if you plan to upgrade your phone, as the iPhone 12 lineup has proven to be quite strong and without overly weak points. We expect the same from this year’s generation, even though more time is needed to check its long-term use.

At the moment, we can make conclusions regarding the durability of the iPhone 13 based on preliminary drop tests. And with that said, we’ll first check what 'Allstate Protection Plans' says, a highly reputable provider of protection plans for various types of consumer tech products.

If you check the video found above, you’ll see that the iPhone 13 survived a single drop with only minor damage. However, when dropped once again, it cracked at the top and bottom corners. The iPhone 13 Pro cracked at the bottom in the first drop test, which means it’s more susceptible to damage to its less powerful siblings.

The above said applies to face-down tests, emphasizing the durability of the iPhone 13’s screen. When it comes to back-down tests, the iPhone 13 once again proved to be strong, with only minor cracks. However, the iPhone 13 Pro shattered after a single drop.

If you’re wondering about the durability differences between the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, make sure to watch the video found above. You’ll see that both of those models are quite strong when dropped from a table.

When it comes to larger heights, the iPhone 13 Pro Max performed better by showing scratches in its stainless-steel finish until its glass back shattered during further testing. With that said, it’s clear that if you want to take proper care of your iPhone, you’ll need to use a case.

Finally, know that durability tests aren’t an exact science. It’s tough to predict how an iPhone 13 model will behave in the real world, as that depends on the height it’s dropped from, the surface/material it lands on, where the iPhone takes the hit, and similar.
