Euphoria Season 3: Release date, cast, plot, Production Updates, & Everything we know so far

The season two finale of House of the Dragon left fans disappointed. They were expecting an action-packed dragon battle to end the season. However, the season concluded quietly, setting up storylines for the next season. Showrunner Ryan Condal explained that the seemingly anticlimactic ending was intentional to build anticipation for future developments.
Fans really expected to watch the highly-anticipated Battle of the Gullet in season two. When asked why he postponed it to the next installment, Condal said, "We were trying to give the Gullet, which is maybe the second most anticipated event of Fire and Blood, the time and the space that it deserves. And obviously, as anybody that's seen the finale knows, we are we're building to that, that event will will happen very shortly in terms of the storytelling of House of the Dragon."
Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon is a prequel series set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
In this article, we discuss everything we know so far about HOTD Season 3, from a potential release date to where to watch it to cast and production details and so much more. We will keep updating you with new information as and when it becomes available. Check it out!
House of the Dragon has been officially renewed for a third season, but a premiere date hasn't been announced yet. It is speculated that we will get it sometime in 2026. We will keep you updated when that information becomes available. And as usual, you will be able to watch it on HBO, and stream it on Max.
The conclusion of season two suggests that the series is moving towards the impending Battle of the Gullet. Corlys Velaryon is en route to join his fleet, the dragonseeds are gathering for battle, and Rhaenyra is asserting that the moment to act is now. In the meantime, Team Green has secured aid from the Triarchy pirates, Aegon II has fled to the East, and Aemond, accompanied by Cole, is on his way to Harrenhal to confront Daemon.
Tom Glynn-Carney, who plays Aegon II, said, "The books are the foundation of where we’re going narratively, but things are tweaked. It’s the bible, but it’s also not. The writers of our show are brilliant and should be given credit for their creation. George R.R. Martin should be given credit for his creation. But they’re not the same thing."
Although the full cast hasn't been confirmed yet, most of the ensemble cast is expected to return. Here's who we presume to see next season:
Fans had anticipated the appearance of a favorite Fire & Blood character, Nettles; but by the end of season two, we saw that her storyline was given to Rhaena instead. So, unfortunately, we likely won't be seeing her in season three, but all bets are not off. Condal said, "I think that's a ‘Please stay tuned and keep watching the story.’ I will say that we love Rhaena as a character and we've really done a lot of legwork to set her up from the beginning as somebody in this Targaryen household who does not have a dragon."
Another character who was talked about a lot in season two but never made an appearance was Daeron (Alicent's son). We will surely see him in the third season, as his dragon, Tessarion, was seen at the end of the season two finale. However, we have no official word about which actor will play Daeron.
Showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal said in a press conference that HOTD season three is being written now and will begin production in early 2025.
"There are so many great events that we are already writing in season 3 as it is. This war really comes to a big head at this point in the storytelling. I mean, if you look at season 2, it’s largely a metaphor for a nuclear conflict … There’s gonna be giant moments of spectacle but real moments of surprise and character nuance that we’re very much looking forward to. Some of my favorite moments of in the book, as a reader, I’m excited to adapt as a dramatist," he said.
When asked if the third installment will also have eight episodes like the previous one, Condal said, "I haven’t had discussions with HBO about it. I would just anticipate the cadence of the show, from a dramatic storytelling perspective, will continue to be the same from Season 2 on."
HBO hasn't made an official announcement yet about the number of episodes we will get in season three.
According to Condal, the show will end with four seasons, perhaps in 2028. George R.R. Martin had previously mentioned that it should take at least four seasons of 10 episodes each to tell the show’s Dance of the Dragons story from his Fire & Blood book.
