Horizon: An American Saga explores the appeal of the Old West and how it was gained and lost through the hard work and struggle of many people. The movie covers the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865. It will take viewers on an emotional journey through a country at war with itself. It will be seen through the perspectives of families, friends, and enemies as they all try to understand what it really means to be the United States of America.
Kevin Costner directed the movie (for the first time since Open Range in 2003) and produced it as well, along with Howard Kaplan and Mark Gillard. Executive producers include Danny Peykoff, Robert Scannell, Armyan Bernstein, Charlie Lyons, Barry Berg, and Rod Lake. Costner and Jon Baird did the screenplay, while the story is by Baird, Costner, and Mark Kasdan.
