Good news for Edens Zero fans! Based on author Hiro Mashima's manga of the same name, the anime series is finally getting a second season. The announcement comes after plenty of speculation online since the first season ended in October 2021. Fans have been worried about the fate of the anime due to not having received official confirmation ever since. However, you can finally rest easy because Shiki, Rebecca, and Happy will be back soon!
If you want to binge the anime, you can find Edens Zero streaming on Netflix. As for its manga, the series is released by Kodansha, so you can find it simulpublishing through Crunchyroll. You can also find Hard copies of the manga online if you'd rather buy physical volumes! Crunchyroll previously reported that the director of the first season of Edens Zero had passed away before the finale of the first season of the show aired.
While it hasn't been announced who will be replacing the late Yushi Suzuki, the producers have likely found someone to fill his shoes. The update comes from the anime firsthand as Edens Zero posted the news on its official Twitter. Read on to know more about Edens Zero Season 2.
Edens Zeros plot description on MyAnimeList reads:
"All his life, Shiki has been surrounded by machines. At Granbell Kingdom, a long-abandoned amusement park, he is the only one of his kind around. That is, until Rebecca Bluegarden and her feline companion Happy arrive, unaware that they are Granbell's first visitors in one hundred years. Their goal is to make fun videos for their B-Cube channel, but what they find instead is a friend in the socially awkward Shiki.
When Granbell becomes too dangerous for the three of them, they set off on an adventure through the Sakura Cosmos. They hope to make more interesting videos and even find the elusive goddess Mother, while Shiki wants to make more friends, spurred on by the words of his late grandfather. Of course, the journey will not be easy, as no one has seen Mother before, but Shiki is determined to reach his goal and explore the boundless reaches of space together with his new friends."
After teasing a continuation of the Edens Zero anime shortly after the final episode aired, the official Twitter account of Edens Zero has confirmed that the second season, based on the manga of the same name by Hiro Mashima, is currently in production. A teaser visual for the next season featuring Shiki, Rebecca, and the adorable Happy has also been released. However, information on the broadcast date or staff members has not yet been revealed.
As seen below, the new Edens Zero poster shows Shiki holding up two fingers to signal the upcoming season. The characters' designs look familiar as mangaka Hiro Mashima prefers to stick to his original aesthetic. The leads look remarkably similar to our favorite characters from Mashima's previous works like Fairy Tail or Rave Master, so fans of those series will have an easy time watching Edens Zero if they haven't already.
The announcement below reads, "Everyone, thank you for your patience. The anime's second season has been approved. Details such as its broadcast debut will be reported later, so please look forward to it!"
