Heartstopper wooed its viewers with Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring’s (Joe Locke) teenage love story. But now it's time to bid goodbye to both. Netflix has announced that Heartstopper will end its run with a film based on the sixth and final Heartstopper graphic novel by Alice Oseman.
The show has been lauded over the years for its sensitive depiction of LGBTQ+ characters and topics. The 2024 season ended with Charlie and Nick taking the next step in their relationship and sleeping together. This upcoming film is expected to explore whether they can sustain a long-distance relationship once Nick heads for university.

Release date and Where to Watch
At the time of writing, a release date hasn’t been confirmed yet. However, it is expected to be released by late 2026. All the seasons of the show are available to watch on Netflix.
What will the HeartStopper Movie be About?
The Heartstopper film will take place after the season 3 finale where Nick and Charlie (as well as many of their friends) took the next step in their lives and relationships. The movie will explore the characters experiencing life’s new milestones.
As for the main two leads- Nick will head off to university while Charlie will get to experience a new freedom at school. The couple will face their biggest relationship challenge yet: long-distance. But will they come out the other side intact? Will Nick and Charlie’s first love be their last? Or will new experiences bring someone fresh into their lives?
Alice Oseman said in a statement to Tudum about the film that will wrap up Nick and Charlie’s story definitively:

Behind the Scenes
The Heartstopper movie will be written by Alice Oseman. Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Euros Lyn, Joe Locke, and Kit Connor will executive produce the film. Wash Westmoreland will direct it. The film will begin filming in summer 2025.
