HBO Max Will Soon Introduce a Total App Overhaul on Apple TV, Roku, and PlayStation
Last updated August 16, 2021
While many loved media apps were present in the PlayStation 5 menu since launch, HBO Max was missing. Sony made the official announcement this Wednesday on Twitter, letting fans know that they now have another major streaming service. Of course, that comes as good news only for the limited number of persons who actually got the chance to place and receive the PS5 order.
Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, Spotify, Twitch, and YouTube were all available at launch, but HBO Max was still negotiated. Even before the launch, Sony professed that their next-gen console would be a sort of media streaming hub, with even more services to be added in time.
The HBO Max app was already available for the American PS4 users but seeing it added to PlayStation 5 means watching some of the great HBO content in 4K HDR on supported TVs. If you do not have a subscription to the service yet, you can get one by subscribing to HBO Max right now since they added a lot of great content this December, such as the new Wonder Woman 1984 movie.
So with giants like Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and now HBO Max, you sure will have a lot of things to watch while you stay indoors and wait for the pandemic to end. When you take a break from gaming, that is.
So if you are one of the lucky PS5 owners right now, go ahead and access the media tab on your console. You can find the new app added in the All Apps section. If it is not listed, try a reboot and look for it again. There are buttons for Netflix and Disney+ on the remote, but you probably will not find it annoying that there isn't one for HBO Max, even though it would have been nice.
