We know that you were getting excited about the Friends reunion special HBO Max teased us about, but it looks like it's getting postponed again. Although we'd all like to watch the Friends reunion yesterday, it seems that's not going to be possible just yet.
Announced back in early spring before the world turned upside down, everyone was hoping we'd get the famous group together sooner rather than later, especially after years and years of crossing our fingers. It was then announced that filming was getting delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as cases burst in the United States.
Hopes were for a May launch to coincide with the HBO Max launch. Obviously, that didn't happen as the pandemic raged on. The new target for shooting the whole thing set for mid-August is not going to happen either, with the number of cases the US is seeing.
HBO has taken the Friends reunion off the calendar, and there's no more daydreaming for any specific release date right now. We can only hope that it's still happening at this point. Of course, getting the show's stars together for this reunion is difficult enough - but factor in the pandemic and things can't go too well.

Friends was removed from Netflix last year, as HBO got its claws into the series, becoming the exclusive streamer for all seasons - for $425 million, no less. With the planned reunion special, HBO was supposed to make things that much better.
Friends is one of the most famous sitcoms in the United States. It started airing in 1994 and lasted ten seasons through May 2004, when it ended with a finale watched by 52.5 million Americans. Sixteen years later, Friends continues to be one of the most notable shows ever, starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer.
