Grotesquerie premieres with two episodes on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET on FX. The show will also be available for streaming on Hulu the next day.

Plot

Grotesquerie, the latest from Ryan Murphy, stars Niecy Nash-Betts as Detective Lois Tryon, who’s investigating a series of gruesome crimes that feel disturbingly personal as if she’s being taunted by the killer. Alongside Nash-Betts, the cast includes Lesley Manville, Courtney B. Vance, and newcomer Travis Kelce. 

At home, Lois struggles with her strained relationship with her daughter and her husband, who’s in long-term hospital care. Desperate for leads, she teams up with Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), a nun and journalist with a troubled past, as they unravel a dark, sinister mystery gripping their small town.

The trailer opens with an intro from NFL star Travis Kelce, now making his Hollywood push by joining the cast of FX's new 10-episode series, alongside Lesley Manville, Micaela Diamond, Raven Goodwin, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez. Nash-Betts, as Detective Lois Tryon, investigates a “mass cult death,” describing the killer as taunting and evil. Sister Megan (Diamond), a crime-solving nun, adds, "You have to really hate people to do what was done here." As Tryon’s investigation deepens, her reliability is questioned, and the tension builds, blending Murphy’s signature themes of faith, horror, and seduction.
