Google Says Pixel 3a Stock Is Depleted, but Pixel 4a Is Still Not Out Yet
Last updated June 14, 2021
In an invite sent to the press, Google has confirmed that the Pixel 3 launch event will take place on October 9 in the New York City at 11 AM ET. This is in line with the launch timeframes for the previous Pixel phones so far. The invite itself doesn't reveal much apart from just mentioning "I <3 NY", indicating '3' as a subtle hint for the Pixel 3.
While the invite doesn't give out too many clues, it probably didn't have to. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been leaked many times over the past few weeks. A video posted on the channel 'In DIGI' on YouTube showed off unboxing of a brand new Pixel 3 XL in full detail including the notched thin bezel display, in-box contents, glass back for wireless charging, and the USB Type-C earbuds.
Recently, someone forgot a Pixel 3 XL in the back of a Lyft car. The anonymous driver realized that it was an unreleased Pixel 3 XL and took a few shots of the phone before returning it to its owner.
Both the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and will feature 4 GB RAM — a tad on the lower side considering we now have cheaper phones with 6 GB and even 8 GB RAM options. The main USP of the Pixels though has always been the camera and in fact, the Google Camera app on the Pixels has been unofficially ported to other handsets supporting the camera2 API. Of course, the Pixel 3 phones will feature stock Android 9.0 Pie implementing a fully gesture-based UI navigation.
So, while we know most of what the Pixel 3 phones have to offer, Google might still manage to pull a few tricks up its sleeves by announcing some hitherto unknown features. There's also a possibility for unveiling new Pixelbooks, Google Home Mini and Max smart speakers, and more. All will be revealed on October 9th, and you can live-stream the event on Google's YouTube channel.
