Controversial social network website Gab has been forced to take down its website after the platform’s hosting service GoDaddy delivered a 24-hour ultimatum to move to a different hosting provider. The move by GoDaddy came shortly after other companies blocked the social media platform over the weekend. The reason behind the decision to ban the website arose from Robert Bowers’ history of posting anti-Semitic messages on Gab. Bowers allegedly killed eleven people at a Pittsburgh synagogue with a gun on Saturday.
GoDaddy said in a statement “We have informed Gab.com that they have 24 hours to move the domain to another provider, as they have violated our terms of service. In response to complaints received over the weekend, GoDaddy investigated and discovered numerous instances of content on the site that both promotes and encourages violence against people.”

Gab is currently not accessible to internet users, and a message on the website states that it is under attack and the staff is working towards getting the website back online. Other companies like Google, Apple, and Microsoft have also removed the social media website from their platforms. The social media platform will have to move to a new platform if they want to continue to operate. Gab revealed that they are being attacked by mainstream media for defending free speech and liberty on the internet. The site claims that they are working with law enforcement to ensure the Pittsburg atrocity sees justice.
The platform’s Twitter account initially revealed that it could be down for weeks but a recent tweet revealed that it would be back up sooner than expected. Gab is not the only website that was cut off by GoDaddy. The hosting provider also stopped offering services to Daily Stormer.
