Spoiler Alert

This article contains General Hospital spoilers for the Jan. 7, 2025, episode.

Viewers of General Hospital were already aware of Chad Duell’s exit from the show. But no one could have predicted that his character, Michael Corinthos, would get this cruel a send-off, especially after spending way more than a decade on the show. In this article, we will discuss what kind of farewell Michael got and how other characters will react to it in the upcoming episodes.

How did Michael Corinthos’ Story end in General Hospital?

Chad Duell has played Michael Corinthos on General Hospital since 2010 but after 14 years, his character’s story has ended. Michael was upset at Willow and sent her divorce papers because she had cheated on him with his uncle, Drew. He also talked with Sonny about wanting custody of his kids and felt bad that they would have to go through this mess.

When Jason and Sonny went to speak outside the penthouse, they heard and saw an explosion coming from the place. They ran to the room only to find Michael in flames, screaming and running around the room. Many viewers didn’t expect that Michael would get burned alive and were upset by it.

What will Happen next in General Hospital?

In the preview clip, we see Jason hold Sonny back from saving his son and go into the blaze to save Michael. As per General Hospital spoilers, it's possible that Sonny will have a heart attack from all the smoke inhalation as well as due to what’s happening with Michael. The mob boss even warned him that it was coming but his pride has prevented him from getting the help he needs.

Also, Sonny will want revenge for what happened to Michael. Next week in General Hospital, Sonny and Carly will also be drawn together by the loss of Michael. Willow will also probably feel sorry for what she did to Michael.

General Hospital is available to watch on ABC.
