Demon Slayer Season 2: Entertainment District Arc Episode 11 Release Date, Time, and Where to Watch
Published on February 8, 2022
Crunchyroll just made its biggest announcement ever! The ultimate anime site Funimation, which caters to millions of anime fans worldwide, is finally uniting with Crunchyroll on March 1, 2022. This move will include Funimation's subsidiary, Wakanim, and Crunchyroll's subsidiary, VRV, to create one subscription service under the Crunchyroll name for anime fans worldwide. Sony is in the process of merging its two anime streaming services, with Crunchyroll subscribers being given access to Funimation's library and simulcast content.
The merger is a viable move for the companies and fans, for it means that all our favorite anime series and movies will now be available on one platform. Starting today, tons of shows and movies from Funimation and Wakanim will begin arriving on Crunchyroll, meaning fans will get more dubs, more subs, and more content than they could imagine!
Speaking about the union, Crunchyroll CEO Colin Decker said in a statement, "When we brought Funimation and Crunchyroll together last year, our top priority was to put fans first. Unifying all of our brands and services under the Crunchyroll brand globally enables us to offer more value than ever before as we combine subs, dubs, simulcasts, library, music, movies, manga — all into one subscription."
Funimation's entire anime library moving to Crunchyroll means that the new anime series will only stream on Crunchyroll in and after the upcoming Spring season. Funimation will only add new episodes of continuing series. Funimation's official website advises fans to cancel their subscription and opt for a Crunchyroll subscription instead. Crunchyroll Premium gives subscribers ad-free access to the complete library and several other benefits in three other tiers:Â Fan, Mega Fan, and Ultimate Fan.Â
Funimation subscribers, don't feel too left out. As a welcome to the new Crunchyroll family, Funimation, Wakanim, and VRV subscribers are reportedly getting a special deal offering 60 days of Crunchyroll Premium free! Over the next few days, selected Funimation, Wakanim, and VRV subscribers will receive an email with their unique link to redeem.
The recent move by Crunchyroll has brought more than 1,600 hours worth of content from Funimation, including blockbusters like My Hero Academia, JUJUTSU KAISEN, and Fruits Basket. Check out the full list of new arrivals on Crunchyroll, with much more to come!
