A German researcher, Henrik Schönemann⁩, managed to capture confidential data allegedly from the White House’s website, DEI.gov. Schönemann took screenshots when the information was unprotected for a ‘brief period’ of time and was later secured with a password.

The researcher posted the following screenshot of the data they captured:

DEI stands for diversity, equity, and inclusion and it promotes growth, well-being, and inclusion among other things at workplace and other environments.

The disclosed DEI data showed funding with reference to following entities and causes:

  1. $78,000 to Palestinian activist groups.
  2. Nearly $1million to Hamas-linked charity.
  3. $1.5 million to address racial, ethnic and income-based differences in vasectomy knowledge.
  4. Over $1 million on video game to help LGBTQ youth stop binge drinking among other things.
  5. $50 million to a coalition that includes an immigration justice group that pushes voters registration for traditionally Democrat-leaning demographics.
  6. Funded performances of play ‘Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes,’ in which God is termed Bisexual.
  7. $15,000 to queer Muslim writers in India.
  8. An undisclosed amount to create an army of 2,500 LGBTQ+ allies.
  9. A set of $10,000 grants for the upliftment of transgender youth in Peru via a ballroom dancing program.
  10. Funded 31 programs across 23 countries to engage in ‘hip-hop diplomacy,’ to promote democratic values, boost climate activism and promote diversity.
  11. $70,000 grant to produce a DEI musical in Ireland.
  12. $500,000 to expand atheism in Nepal.
  13. $25,000 for transgender opera in Colombia.
  14. $2.5 million for electric vehicles in Vietnam.
  15. $32,000 for a Peruvian LGBT comic book.
  16. $2 million for sex changes and LGNt activism in Guatemala.
  17. $6 million to fund tourism in Egypt.
  18. $20 million on Ahlan Simsim - a new Sesame Street show in Iraq.
  19. Over $4.5 million to fight disinformation in Kazakhstan.
  20. Up to $10 million worth of USAID-funded meals to Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group the Nusra Front.

This is not an exhaustive list. And the validity of the claims could not be verified at the time of posting. Addressing the content, a 404 Media report stated, “The capture shows that the site contains a list of vague, alleged government-funded tasks and their costs, without sources or context.”

Since the moderators changed the settings of the DEI website, it now redirects to ‘waste.gov’ and is no longer accessible without the password

Schönemann who claims to have captured DEI.gov data is a digital humanist and historian. After gaining access to the information, they posted it on Mastodon along with screenshots of the official website’s IP address and other details.

In an executive order posted on January 20, 2025, the White House expressed the desire to end ‘wasteful government DEI programs.

The first section addressing the purpose and policy read, “The Biden Administration forced illegal and immoral discrimination programs, going by the name “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI), into virtually all aspects of the Federal Government..”

It is not known how, if or why the confidential data was left unprotected for the brief period of time it was allegedly captured. Going by the White House' stand on funding, it is clear that a transition is evident.
