Plot

Fast Friends is an exciting new game show series that invites die-hard F.R.I.E.N.D.S. fans to participate in a fast-paced competition by answering trivia, solving puzzles, and taking on challenges based on the iconic show.

Contestants will race through recreated versions of beloved sets from the series, including Rachel and Monica’s apartment, Joey and Chandler’s bachelor pad, and the Central Perk coffee shop, all located at The Friends Experience: The One in New York. This immersive exhibit spans two stories and 17,000 square feet, featuring 18 nostalgia-filled rooms, set recreations, costumes, and memorabilia from the series. Warner Bros. has called this setup “the first of its kind."

In this four-part series, teams will compete to win the title of "Ultimate Friends Fan" by testing their knowledge of Friends in a series of engaging tasks. The game show is a tribute to the 30th anniversary of Friends, which first premiered on Sept. 22, 1994, and quickly became one of the most beloved television shows in history.

Fans can also celebrate the milestone with new themed content on Max, including specially curated episode collections like “The Most Watched Episodes,” “Best of Chandler,” “Best of Joey,” “Best of Monica,” “Ross and Rachel Highlights,” and more. Max subscribers can even enjoy Friends in 4K UHD with Dolby Vision and HDR10 on supported devices, enhancing their viewing experience of classic episodes.

With a combination of nostalgia and competition, Fast Friends promises to bring fans closer to their favorite show while testing their trivia and puzzle-solving skills in familiar and iconic locations.

Official Trailer

Production kicks off next month, so it's a bit early for a trailer. However, as soon as one is released, we’ll update this section right away! In the meantime, enjoy the 30th-anniversary clip shared by Max below.

Is Fast Friends Worth Watching?

Fast Friends definitely seems worth tuning in for. Anything related to Friends is bound to catch the attention of fans, and there are plenty of them. The concept of a game show like this is fun because, while contestants tackle trivia and challenges, viewers at home get to test their knowledge, too. It’s a bit like Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy, making it even more engaging, especially when the questions revolve around a beloved series like Friends.

The fact that Fast Friends is only four episodes long means it won’t require a big time commitment, and what makes it even more exciting is that it’s filmed at the Friends Experience. For those who've visited, the nostalgia of seeing familiar sets and memorabilia is sure to hit hard.

In other news, Friends creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane have shared they’ve been pitched ideas about a reboot involving the characters’ children. However, Courteney Cox has admitted she's not convinced, given how difficult it is to recreate the magic of something so iconic. Plus, the recent loss of Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing, adds a sense of finality to the show's legacy, with many feeling his absence would be felt deeply in any reboot.

Behind the Scenes

Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, in partnership with Warner Horizon, produces the new four-part competition show. Executive producers include Dan Norris, Dan Sacks, and Bridgette Theriault, with Richard Burgio as co-executive producer.
