Freeview launched in 2016 for mobile devices, and it offered Australian TV show fans access to unlimited free streaming along with on-demand content. The app gained massive popularity over time, and the service is finally coming to web browsers.
Freeview launched its streaming service for desktop browsers and you can finally view your favorite shows on large displays instead of viewing content cramped up phone displays and tablets. Some of the most popular shows available via the service include Cheers, Home and Away, The Bachelorette and many more.
All of the content available on Freeview is completely free and is offered by a number of Australian networks which include SBS On Demand, 7PLUS, 9Now, Tenplay, and ABC iview. Users do not need to create an account to access all of the content and simply heading to the website allows you to stream all of the content you want to view. Currently, there are no plans of more networks being added to the roster.
The service does not offer much customization or features which is expected considering it’s a free service. There is a favorites feature (heart icon) that you can use to bookmark your favorite episodes and shows so you can get to them whenever you want and also be notified whenever new episodes come out.
There is no sync feature available on Freeview, and your personalized settings will be stored only as long as you keep your browser cookies saved. More features are expected to make it into the website over time with cross-network recommendations depending on your activity. Freeview has promised to introduce more content and features over time and will also be adding more on-demand content.
