Fountain of Youth centers on two estranged siblings, played by John Krasinski and Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, who reunite for a globe-trotting heist in search of the legendary Fountain of Youth. Armed with their deep knowledge of history, they unravel ancient clues on a high-stakes adventure that could not only mend their fractured bond—but unlock the secret to immortality.
The recently released trailer for Apple TV+'s upcoming film Fountain of Youth offers an exhilarating glimpse into the adventure that awaits viewers. The film stars John Krasinski as Luke Purdue, a treasure hunter, and Natalie Portman as his estranged sister, Charlotte Purdue. The siblings reunite to search for the legendary Fountain of Youth, a quest initiated by their late archaeologist father.Â
In one moment of the trailer, Luke emphasised the fountain's significance, "One story, five continents. Dozens of cultures over thousands of years." This line underscores the global and historical magnitude of their mission.
Visually, the trailer showcases a series of breathtaking locations, including the pyramids of Egypt, the bustling streets of London, and a train journey through Thailand, highlighting the film's expansive scope.
The sibling dynamic is central to the narrative. Luke attempts to persuade Charlotte to join him in completing their father's work. Charlotte's initial skepticism is evident, though glimpses of her son, Thomas (Benjamin Chivers), suggest a familial pull towards the adventure.
Action sequences are prominently featured, with Luke engaging in multiple knife fights against Esme, portrayed by Eiza González. Stanley Tucci's character advises Esme on the importance of keeping the fountain's location a secret, adding layers of intrigue and conflict.
The trailer concludes with a sense of urgency and mystery, as Luke declares, "It's here. I can feel it." This statement sets the stage for the perilous journey ahead. For a visual preview, you can watch the official trailer here:
According to IMDb, Fountain of Youth was filmed across multiple international locations, including Cairo, Egypt; London, England, UK; Rome, Italy; Vienna, Austria; and Thailand. Production began in Bangkok in February 2024, moved to Vienna in March, and continued in Liverpool in May. Filming officially wrapped in October 2024.
Natalie Portman revealed her filming experience in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
"I'd never been to Cairo or Vienna before and was blown away by both cities — some of the most special places I've ever been. We also had a crazy chase sequence we shot in Liverpool, which was some really wild car work, and an incredible sunken ship sequence we shot on stage in London. It was always an epic day with wild stunts and scenarios to tackle. Just the most fun you can have, really."
Fountain of Youth is an Apple Original Film directed by Guy Ritchie and written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, Scream VI), based on his original script. The film hails from a first-look partnership between Apple and Skydance Media.
Ritchie revealed to EW that he made this film for his kids: "I'm out for a certain demographic, and that demographic is my family, if you know what I mean. I can sit there with my five kids — I think I have five kids — of all ages, and there's something in there for everyone. Directors really make movies for themselves or their families. That's my experience anyway."
Produced by David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger for Skydance, the film also counts Tripp Vinson of Vinson Films, and James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment among its producers. Guy Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, and Jake Myers serve as executive producers alongside Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, Chad Villella, and Tara Farney.
