Facebook brings its users a host of new features every year, and 2018 is turning out to be no different. The company recently announced that its Watch Party feature would be rolling out to all groups in the near future. While Groups being one of the core features of the platform, Facebook users who share the same interests can watch hours of content together.

Some of the biggest problems that Facebook has been facing include hate speech and toxic behavior. The social media platform seeks to address the above issues when rolling out the Watch Party feature. Artificial intelligence will be deployed to keep users safe from misinformation and hate speech.

Product manager of social video revealed, “Keeping the communication safe is something that's really important to us and [that's] a responsibility we take really seriously across Facebook. We really want to bring people front and center, to the end-to-end video experience. Watch Party really embodies a lot of our social video vision.

Facebook revealed its interest to make video a crucial part of the platform earlier this year. The company seeks to compete against top streaming brands like YouTube, Netflix, and Twitch by focusing on social features. The Watch Party feature will allow users to post comments live as well as react to videos using emojis.

The feature will not be restricted to Groups for long with Facebook confirming that the collaborative video watching experience will be available to standalone profiles as well. You will soon be able to see videos in sync with your friends and family once the feature rolls out. Facebook continues to deliver when it comes to offering more user interaction on the platform and Watch Party is definitely a step in the right direction.
