Facebook will be the exclusive social media network to live stream “The Oscars: All Access.” The entire stream can be seen on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and ABC Facebook pages. Now it is a known fact that Facebook’s Live Streaming feature has not been the phenomenal success that CEO Mark Zuckerberg hopped it to be. Nonetheless, ABC and the Academy has signed up Facebook to live stream the event just like they did last year.

The primary motive behind the act seems to be that they want maximum exposure for the Oscars. Furthermore, it will be easier to reel-in viewers from the live stream to the actual broadcast which will be exclusively broadcasted on ABC TV and ABC’s digital streaming platforms.

Back in 2017, "The Oscars: All Access" won the Emmy Award for the best Creative Achievement in Entertainment Media within an unscripted program. This year, it will be incorporating a set of over 20 cameras along the red carpet, backstage and in the audience to capture footage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Also, the Academy’s Facebook Watch show page has already started broadcasting special “Oscars Insider” which will lead up to Sunday - the day of the main event.

The Facebook and Oscars partnership will also extend over to Instagram. Tom Holland, the new Spider-Man for MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe), will be given authority over the official @instagram Instagram Stories account. The Academy will be sharing exclusive moments through the Instagram Stories handle via @theacademy. Of course, other celebrities are also expected to post to the platform as well.

The Hosts for “The Oscars: All Access” will be Sofia Carson (who was also there last year), Chris Connelly, Ben Lyons, Adnan Virk, and newcomer actor Wesam Keesh (who stars in ABC’s new legal drama “For the People”). And the Host for the 90th Academy Awards itself will be Jimmy Kimmel. The Academy Awards will air live on ABC starting at 8 pm ET/5pm PT on March 4.
