Everything we know About Wolf Man (2025)

Wolf Man is back in 2025, and this time, the story is quite different from the classic 1941 tale we are all familiar with. In the film starring Lon Chaney Jr., his character Larry Talbot returned to his ancestral property after his brother’s death. There, he was attacked by a werewolf while trying to save Jenny Williams, a local girl. 

In the 2025 reboot, director Leigh Whannell has kept the familial tones intact while also upgrading it for modern audiences. The film was initially announced in 2014 and was planned to be a part of Universal Monsters' shared cinematic universe. However, after The Mummy (2017) failed, Universal ditched the idea of a shared universe.

What is the plot of Wolf Man?

Wolf Man follows Blake, a husband and father, who inherits a remote house in rural Oregon after his father suddenly vanishes and is presumed dead. He and his wife, Charlotte head out to see the property with their young daughter, Ginger, in an attempt to take a break from their fast-paced San Francisco life and also to repair their fraying marriage. 

However, when the family reaches the farmhouse in the thick of the night, they get attacked by an animal. To save themselves, they lock themselves in the house as the creature waits for them to come out. As the night goes on, Blake begins behaving strangely and transforms into something monstrous. 

Charlotte, now alone with her young child in the house, has to decide whether she wants to deal with the monster in the house or the creature prowling outside. This adaptation changes the plot of the classic 1941 film to make it more palatable for modern audiences.

Is There a Trailer for Wolf Man?

The official trailer for Wolf Man drops viewers right in the middle of the action. We see Blake and his family struggle to get out of the wrecked rental truck. They are alone in the middle of the woods and just as Blake closes the door of the vehicle, an animal attacks him. 

The family runs to take refuge in Blake’s old inherited home and there, Charlotte tries to convey to someone on the phone what’s going on. But the night and terror have just begun, as we see Blake transforming and an animal waiting outside for the family. 

Now, it’s up to Charlotte to keep their daughter, Ginger, safe from both the monsters. Check the trailer out below: 

The teaser for the film begins with bugs fighting in the forest and then the scene shifts to Blake undergoing a mysterious transformation. The title card has also been innovatively incorporated into the teaser adding to the horror of the film. Check it out here:

Yes, the 2005 Wolf Man is a reboot of the 1941 film of the same name. 

Behind the Scenes

Wolf Man is directed and co-written by Leigh Whannell. Corbett Tuck and Rebecca Angelo also contributed to the script. Jason Blum and Ryan Gosling serve as producers, the former through his Blumhouse Productions banner. Universal Pictures has distributed the film.
