A brand-new Korean drama is ready to make its grand debut—and it’s already stirring up excitement with its eerie charm and fantasy-infused mystery. The Haunted Palace (귀궁) brings a supernatural twist to the historical genre, blending romance, comedy, and palace intrigue into a story that's unlike anything K-drama fans have seen before.

From the creative minds behind Mr. Queen and Bridal Mask, this series is led by a star-studded cast featuring BTOB’s Yook Sungjae, WJSN’s Bona, and Money Heist: Korea star Kim Ji Hoon. Add in a palace crawling with vengeful female ghosts and a mythical Imoogi serpent spirit, and you’ve got all the ingredients for a hauntingly good ride.

Release date & Where to Watch in the US

The Haunted Palace is set to premiere on Friday, April 18, 2025, airing every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM KST on SBS TV. The 16-episode drama will take over the time slot currently held by Buried Hearts.

US viewers will be able to stream the drama on Netflix starting the same day, with new episodes dropping weekly until the finale on June 7, 2025.

Plot: Spirits, Schemes, and a Shaman’s fate

The drama centers around a trio drawn together by a powerful supernatural force. Yoon Gab (Yook Sungjae), a respected palace officer, suddenly finds his life upended when he’s possessed by an Imoogi—an ancient, mystical serpent spirit. The twist? The spirit is connected to his first love, Yeo Ri (Bona), a shaman’s granddaughter who abandoned her fate to live a quiet life as a glass artisan.

When the Imoogi seeks out Yeo Ri as a host and she refuses, it takes over Yoon Gab instead. As ghostly disturbances plague the royal palace, Yeo Ri is pulled back into a world she tried to leave behind. Together with reformist King Yi Seong (Kim Ji Hoon), the trio must unravel the mystery behind the vengeful female spirits haunting the palace, each hiding a story of their own.

Expect dramatic power struggles, forbidden love, ancient curses, and a battle for the future of Joseon itself.
