Emilia Clarke to star in Ponies: Everything we know so far About the Peacock spy Thriller Series

Peacock has ordered a new espionage thriller series called Ponies, starring Emilia Clarke, who is best known as Daenerys Targaryen in HBO's Game of Thrones. She garnered critical acclaim for her role in the show, including nominations for four Emmys and three Critics Choice awards. 

She has also appeared as Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys, Qi'ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and as G'iah in Marvel's Secret Invasion. Clarke has also starred in the romantic dramas Me Before You and Last Christmas.

Now, audiences will see her in the lead role of a spy thriller show. This will be her second main role in a TV series after Criminal on Prime Video.

Plot

In 1977 Moscow, two secretaries who are ‘PONIES’ (‘persons of no interest’ in intelligence speak) work at the American Embassy. When their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, they become CIA operatives. Bea, a Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants, and Twila, a fearless small-town girl, work together to uncover a large Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery of their husbands' deaths.

Cast

Emilia Clarke will play Bea's role. Further casting details are yet to be announced.

Behind the Scenes

Susanna Fogel (The Flight Attendant, The Spy Who Dumped Me) and David Iserson (Mr. Robot) co-created the series. Fogel is also the director, Iserson is the showrunner, and Clarke is an executive producer. Jessica Rhoades (Black Mirror) executive produces under her Pacesetter Productions banner. Alison Mo Massey from Pacesetter will co-executive produce with Katherine Bridle. Universal Television is the production company.
