Dexter: Original Sin’s first season is over, and the last episode has left viewers with a lot of questions. In episode 10, Code Blues, Dexter confronts Aaron, the police captain who ended Jimmy Powell and kidnapped Nicky, his own child. On the other hand, Harry deals with Brian, who wants to meet his biological brother Dexter. In this article, we will reveal what happened in the end.Â
Aaron Spencer wanted to kill Nicky because he believed that the boy wasn’t his biological son. His ex-wife, Becca, had an extramarital affair with Nelson, that lasted for 14 years. Since he is an experienced police officer, so he might have been able to conduct a DNA test that confirmed his suspicions.Â
If Nicky isn’t his biological son, then all these years he was raising a child who wasn’t his. This coupled with Becca’s long-term cheating could have resulted in him having an emotional breakdown. So, Spencer could have thought that the way he could ruin Becca’s happy life with her son and Nelson was by ending Nicky. This would cause her immense emotional pain and could end up in her moving away from Nelson.Â
Aaron’s primary target was always Nicky, but as a police officer who has been working on child kidnapping and murder cases, he knows that the first suspects are always the parents. This is especially true for those parents in rocky marriages. Everyone in the force knew of his and Becca’s marital problems.Â
So, to divert the attention in another direction, he built a narrative about a powerful drug cartel. Killing Jimmy first lets Aaron distance himself from Nicky’s case. By the time Nicky would have vanished, the police force would have gotten the idea that the cartels were responsible for the crime. However, Dexter catches onto his plan.Â
No, Nicky isn’t dead. When Aaron fills Nicky’s cell with seawater, he gives Dexter a choice- to chase him or save Nicky. Dexter conquers his homicidal urges to save Nicky. This is a pivotal moment in his life because he chooses life over death, and this shows that he can make the right choice by overriding his urges.Â
Yes, Dexter does end Aaron Spencer’s life. After rescuing Nicky, he goes to Becca’s house where he finds him trying to end his ex-wife and her fiancé’s life. He abducts Aaron and takes him to Camilla Figg’s boat where he ends him and disposes of the remains. Dexter takes Spencer’s life because he doesn’t understand his motivations for going after Nicky.Â
After all, he raised the boy for about 15 years. Dexter is an adoptive son as well and Harry Morgan has always loved him. So, in the serial killer’s eyes, he deserved to be punished.Â
Brian Moser spares Harry’s life because he knows that killing the veteran cop would put a target on his back. His victims have mostly been homeless people who no one looked out for. But if something happened to Harry, the entire police force would be after him. Also, Dexter would be after him as well.Â
So, even though Harry is the reason why he isn’t with his brother, he still decides to spare him. The episode ends with Brian spying on Dexter, Harry, and Debra who celebrate the latter’s police academy admission.Â
Brian won’t be meeting Dexter anytime soon. The original Dexter series shows that the reunion between the brothers only happens when Brian begins dating Debra as Rudy Cooper. Also, even then it takes quite a while for Dexter to figure out the identity of who his sister is dating.Â
