Spoiler Alert

This article contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again episodes 5 and 6

Daredevil: Born Again is steadily building toward Matt Murdock’s full return as Hell’s Kitchen’s protector. Episode five, With Interest, delivers a tense bank heist that pushes Matt to embrace his Daredevil instincts once again—without the mask. Meanwhile, episode six, Excessive Force, forces him to step back into the suit fully as he faces a brutal new villain. Here’s a breakdown of how Daredevil: Born Again episodes 5 and 6 set the stage for an explosive final stretch.

Episode 5 – Matt Murdock Stops a bank Robbery, but at what cost?

Episode five, With Interest, sees Matt attempting to secure funding for his struggling law firm at New York Mutual Bank, only to find himself in the middle of a robbery. The thieves, led by Devlin, are after a valuable yellow diamond—intended as payment for Fisk’s growing criminal network. Matt, using his heightened senses and combat skills, works from the shadows to dismantle the gang, prevent a hostage massacre, and retrieve the diamond.

In the end, he cleverly swaps the real gem with a piece of candy, ensuring it stays out of the wrong hands. However, while the episode serves as a strong standalone thriller, it also reinforces Matt’s dilemma—he can’t seem to escape vigilantism, even when he tries to stay on the sidelines.

Episode 6 – Daredevil vs. Muse: A dark new Threat Emerges

Excessive Force brings Matt face-to-face with his past as he’s drawn back into the world of masked vigilantism. When Angela Ayala—the niece of the late White Tiger—goes missing while investigating a series of gruesome murders, Matt finally dons his Daredevil suit once again.

His search leads him to a terrifying underground battle with Muse, a deranged serial killer who paints murals with his victims’ blood. The fight is brutal, but Matt manages to save Angela—though Muse escapes into the shadows, hinting at future chaos.

Meanwhile, Wilson Fisk continues his rise to power as mayor but faces challenges from crime bosses unwilling to bow to him. In response, he forms a ruthless Anti-Vigilante Task Force, using corrupt NYPD officers to hunt down anyone in a mask. His violent tendencies resurface in a chilling moment where he seemingly kills Adam—the man who had an affair with Vanessa while Fisk was imprisoned.

What it Means for Daredevil and Fisk Moving Forward

With Matt officially back in the Daredevil suit, his uneasy truce with Fisk is shattered. As the Kingpin consolidates power and assembles his brutal task force, Hell’s Kitchen is primed for all-out war. Meanwhile, Muse’s obsession with vigilantes—and his connection to Heather Glenn—suggests his reign of terror is far from over.

With only two episodes left, Daredevil: Born Again is hurtling toward an explosive finale. Will Matt be able to stop Fisk’s reign of terror, or will his return as Daredevil only play into the Kingpin’s hands?
