Daredevil: Born Again just delivered its most explosive episode yet, and with only one installment left in the season, the stakes have never been higher. Daredevil: Born Again episode 8, “Isle of Joy,” brings shocking revelations, brutal confrontations, and a twist that changes everything we thought we knew about Foggy Nelson’s death.

It also confirms that the show’s shortened nine-episode arc is heading toward a fiery finish, with season two already confirmed to have 8 episodes.

Matt Murdock’s Moral Dilemma: Why did he save Wilson Fisk?

The episode ends on a jaw-dropping moment: Matt Murdock—after learning that Wilson Fisk didn’t kill Foggy—throws himself in front of a sniper bullet to save him. The shooter? None other than the newly escaped Bullseye, who had been targeting Fisk at a lavish mayoral ball.

But this isn’t an act of forgiveness. For Matt, it's about justice. He knows that death would be an easy out for Fisk, whereas prison is the real punishment. More crucially, Matt has finally uncovered the truth—Vanessa Fisk, not Wilson, ordered Foggy’s murder. Saving Fisk becomes a way for Matt to uphold his moral code and expose the true culprit.

Bullseye’s Escape and his Shocking role in Foggy’s Death

Benjamin Poindexter, a.k.a. Bullseye makes his grand return—and escape—in episode eight. After being thrown into gen pop in a setup meant to get him killed, Poindexter unleashes a brutal prison break using a horrifying method: he kills a guard with his own tooth. Before escaping, he cryptically offers Matt information about Foggy’s murder, but only if he gets his freedom in return.

As it turns out, Foggy was assassinated to stop him from exposing corruption tied to Fisk’s Red Hook project. Matt’s investigation leads him to piece together the timeline—Foggy’s celebratory drink at Josie’s bar happened just before he was silenced forever.

Vanessa Fisk: The Mastermind Behind the Murder

One of the most shocking twists of Daredevil: Born Again episode 8 comes during a tense scene at the mayoral ball. Vanessa, who had always seemed like the quieter half of the Kingpin duo, reveals her true hand. She and Fisk had been working together all along—not only to eliminate rival Luca, but to protect their smuggling operations under the Red Hook banner.

It’s Vanessa who confesses to ordering Foggy’s death, fearing his legal victory would expose their criminal empire. She proves her loyalty to Fisk in the most twisted way possible: by murdering her former lover, Adam. Their bond emerges stronger—and more dangerous—than ever.

BB Urich’s Dangerous Discovery and the Return of Ben’s Legacy

Meanwhile, BB Urich continues her quiet but relentless pursuit of justice. The niece of Ben Urich—killed in the original Daredevil series—finally gets confirmation that Fisk was behind her uncle’s death. With the police commissioner privately acknowledging Fisk’s solo control of the Anti-Vigilante Task Force, BB begins compiling evidence to take him down. But as we’ve seen before, crossing Fisk comes with deadly consequences.

Heather, Matt, and a Tonal mess

Not every part of the episode hits the mark. Heather has a bizarre argument with Matt, undermining Daredevil’s heroism and backing Fisk’s anti-vigilante rhetoric, despite being saved by one. She invites Matt to the mayoral ball for reasons that make little sense, and later seems oddly detached from the chaos around her. Her arc feels confusing—especially next to the intensity of what’s happening with Matt, Fisk, and Vanessa.

What’s next in the Season Finale?

As chaos erupts at the ball and Poindexter vanishes back into the night, Matt lies injured but alive—his heroic act only further complicating the web of loyalties and betrayals that define Daredevil: Born Again. With Vanessa’s secret now out, BB Urich closing in on the truth, and Bullseye on the loose, the season finale promises a war that could consume all of Hell’s Kitchen.

The end is near, and justice is finally within reach. But in a city where power corrupts and enemies wear familiar faces, Daredevil may have to risk everything to bring it to light.
