Mobile internet technology has come a long way from the days of EDGE connectivity and slow speeds. With 5G technology already in its rollout phase and set to become mainstream in 2019, D-Link launched its 5G Router that can offer blazing fast speeds.
Download speeds on the D-Link router can go as high as 3Gbps according to the company, and it also supports VoLTE for voice calls and takes advantage of the company’s WiFi mesh system to turn it into a high-range hotspot.
D-Link is partnering with service providers to bring 5G connectivity to people’s homes this year. 5G technology has been hyped extensively in the recent past by a number of companies, and the technology is set to be available on mobile devices as well as on portable hotspots from a number of carriers all over the world.
The new D-Link router comes with a companion app that you can use to configure your internet settings wirelessly. If you are planning on getting your hands on one of the new DWR-2010 routers, then it’s going to be a long wait. The device will not be available before the second half of 2019, and the company has not revealed pricing information either. Pricing will be revealed only when the router is available via retailers and online stores.
The D-Link router offers remote management capabilities allowing internet service providers the ability to diagnose any network issues remotely. 5G technology is set to make broadband cheaper than ever before but its availability at the moment is fairly limited. Things will improve over the course of time with hardware manufacturers and internet service providers pushing the new technology heavily for a proper rollout by the end of this year.
