The Nintendo Switch has been a blessing for gamers indeed, providing us with amazing indie games we never knew about before. However, the Nintendo Switch has severely lagged behind its counterparts in terms of streaming apps. For a long time, fans have complained about the Switch not having a Netflix App, unlike the PlayStation and Xbox. While these fans will still have to wait for Netflix, anime fans are seemingly in luck!Â
Crunchyroll will be available for download from the Switch eShop for free! Even with the addition of Crunchyroll, there still aren't too many streaming services available on the Switch. So far, the console lags behind PlayStation and Xbox, offering only Hulu, YouTube, Twitch, and, exclusively in Japan, Niconico.
The Crunchyroll app will be available on the Nintendo Switch console for free, starting today. There's officially a brand-new way to watch Crunchyroll, and it's right in the palm of your hands, so you can stream all of your favorite anime on TV while your console is docked or on the go with handheld and tabletop modes.Â
Crunchyroll's services are divided into four tiers. The first tier is free, where users can stream an ad-supported selection of popular episodes with an account. In addition, there's Crunchyroll Premium, which gives subscribers ad-free access to the complete Crunchyroll library and several other benefits in three other tiers:Â Fan, Mega Fan, and Ultimate Fan.Â
For the Nintendo Switch app, fans subscribed to the Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan subscription tiers can also download episodes for offline viewing, much like on the Crunchyroll mobile app. There's still no word on when the Nintendo Switch will finally bring Netflix to its console. In the past, Nintendo has said it will eventually bring the streaming service to the console, though that hasn't yet materialized.
The Crunchyroll app is available as a free download on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Premium subscriptions begin at $7.99/month. Here's a look at the app on Nintendo Switch below:
