The dark web post also listed the following records in the data breach claim:

It is estimated that there is more data stolen by the Interlock ransomware group. Alvieri told TechNadu that the ransomware group has threatened to release lots of data on residents.

The list hints towards ongoing negotiations for ransom payment.

We approached Wayne County, Michigan for a response about the data breach claim. We will update this story after receiving a reply.

Wayne County was breached previously in October 2024. The cyber attack on Wayne County left critical services disrupted. According to reports the incident impacted all government servers including services required for bonding out jail inmates.

Addressing the incident, the county spokesperson Doda Lulgjuraj said, “The county information technology team is aware of a cyber incident targeting some internal systems.”

“We are currently investigating the scope of the incident with our cybersecurity partners which include the FBI and Michigan State Police,” Lulgjuraj further added.

Access to tax payments, records of real estate sales, and property data were also impacted. Wayne County’s prosecutor’s and clerk’s offices remained inaccessible throughout the day after the attack.
