Who is the Current Doctor Who?
Ncuti Gatwa is the Fifteenth Doctor, taking over the role from David Tennant, who briefly returned as the Fourteenth Doctor after originally playing the Tenth. Gatwa made Doctor Who history as the first Black actor to portray the Doctor. Born in Rwanda and raised in Scotland, he is best known for his role as Eric Effiong in Netflix’s Sex Education.
In an interview with Variety, Gatwa shared how season two allowed him to fully embrace the role. “Season two felt like a chance to flex the muscles properly,” he said. “So exciting. You’re fueled by the writing and by each new story, each new monster, each new addition into our world, there’s many in Season two. It’s just the fun of the show. I think that just drives you growing into the character.”
