Mullvad VPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if you’re not satisfied with this VPN service (learn more about what to expect via our Mullvad VPN review), you have every right to have your money returned. With that said, let’s show you how to cancel your Mullvad VPN subscription and get a refund.

Before we jump in, we have an important note. If you have a recurring subscription to Mullvad, you need to go through all of the steps found below. However, this VPN also offers one-time payments. In that case, there’s no need to cancel your subscription. Instead, you can jump to the step explaining how to ask the VPN to have your money returned.

Mullvad doesn’t offer refunds for cash payments. The same applies to payments made through Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. In those cases, you’ll need to rely on Apple or Google to process your refund, if applicable in your specific case.

Step #1: Access Your Mullvad VPN Account

Canceling your recurring Mullvad VPN subscription is done via your online account dashboard. In other words, you’ll need to access your account on Mullvad’s website. So, do the following.

1. Using any Web browser, navigate to Mullvad’s official website.

2. Then, click on 'My Account,' visible in the top-right corner.

6. At this moment, you should be looking at your account dashboard.

Step #2: Cancel Your Subscription

Now that you’ve accessed your online dashboard, you can proceed to cancel your Mullvad subscription (available if you’ve used a credit card or PayPal). Keep on reading.

1. Make sure that you’ve accessed your Mullvad account dashboard.

2. Scroll towards the bottom until you see the 'Subscription' section.

3. Select the payment method you used to subscribe to Mullvad – credit card or PayPal.

In case you used PayPal to subscribe to Mullvad, you have one more method to cancel your subscription. More precisely, you can do that via your PayPal account. Use the provided link to learn how that can be done.

Step #3: Contact Mullvad & Ask For a Refund

Unlike other VPNs, Mullvad doesn’t tie your payment method to your account (as a way to secure your privacy). So, you’ll need a specific way to ask for a refund. Based on how you paid for Mullvad, you’ll find the required instructions below.

PayPal Payments

Send an email message to [email protected] from your PayPal-registered email account. You need to ask for a refund while also providing your Mullvad account number. That’s the simplest possible way to ask for a refund, but other options are also available.

If you paid for Mullvad's one-time plan, find your 'Invoice ID' on PayPal’s website (once you access your payment information summary). If you have a recurring subscription, find your payment token by navigating to the 'Billing' section on the PayPal website.

Credit Card Payments

Send an email message to [email protected] containing your Mullvad account number, alongside the payment token associated with the payment in question.

That token can be found on your bank statement and should have the format of VPN*XXXXXXXXX. There’s a chance that it might look different, depending on your bank.

Swish Payments

If you used the Swish app to pay for Mullvad, send an email message to [email protected] containing the first eight characters of the Order ID, the date and time of payment, and the amount you wish to have returned.

You can find all of the above-mentioned details once you log in to the Swish app. To find your Order ID, you need to navigate to 'Payments' and click on the payment in question.

Bank Wire Payments

To ask for a refund based on a bank wire payment, you need to contact the VPN by using the following email address: [email protected]. However, make sure to include the following information: the date of payment, your name and address, your country, your IBAN or account number, as well as your bank’s BIC number.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Cash Payments

And lastly, in case you paid using Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash, you need to sign the word 'mullvad' using the address associated with the initial payment. Then, send the resulting signature and the address to [email protected].

There are several things to keep in mind related to Bitcoin refunds, so here’s what Mullvad says about this refund method:

That would be all on how to cancel a Mullvad VPN subscription and get a refund. If there’s anything else we can assist with, make sure to post your comment below. And lastly, thank you for reading!
