Disney Plus introduced a new feature a couple of weeks ago that allows users to watch movies and shows together. In these pandemic times when we've all had to reconsider our habits, being able to share movies with our friends and family so we can all watch them together at the same time is a fabulous thing to do. The question everyone has is whether the feature works with people sharing the same account or not, and we're here to find out.
In order to use the GroupWatch feature, as it is named on Disney Plus, you need to open the video you want to watch and tap the special icon. Then, you'll get a link to share with those you want to watch.
There's a limit of seven people watching the content at the same time, so you'll only be able to share the link with six people. Well, share with however many you want, but there's only room for six extra.
The only condition for someone to be able to join a GroupWatch is to have an active Disney Plus subscription. Any of the attendees can pause and play the video, skip forward or backward. You can also share emoji reactions to express how you feel about certain scenes.
While all of this is wonderful, the more pressing question was whether those who joined in could use the same account but a different profile. And the answer to the question is "yes."
Whether you want to stream the content in multiple rooms or you've shared your account with your best friend, you can use the same method - share the GroupWatch link with them. Once they join in, their profile icon will appear next to yours, and you can stream the content.
If you're watching on your computer, you can still use your phone to send out emojis, as you can see from the screenshot below.
Simply make sure everyone has the right GroupWatch link and get streaming your favorite movies and shows on Disney Plus.
