Bosch: Legacy season 3 finale closes the Flower Girls killer case but leaves one plot thread hanging. With season 4 not happening, this might have been the last time we have seen Titus Welliver's Harry Bosch in his own series. However, this certainly isn’t the end for him since a Ballard spinoff is just on the horizon. In this article, we will discuss the finale as well as where we can see Bosch next.
It is revealed that an LAFD paramedic named Jeremy McKee is the killer. Bosch’s daughter Maddie points out some inconsistencies in the reports and states that he was the one who pronounced the death of the latest victim and was also present during the murder of a previous victim.
This makes Bosch ask Mo to look into him and they find that McKee does match a lot of the killers’ movements. They get his DNA through a breathalyzer, and it matches that of the killer found on the latest victim. However, Honey wants more concrete information and hard evidence.
So, Bosch and Ballard tail the man when he goes to meet another girl he got to know through the dating website. They get to the location and break the apartment door just in time to stop McKee from escaping. They save the traumatized girl as well. This way, they capture the Flower Girls killer.
Humberto Zorrillo, AKA The Pope, killed LAPD detective Robertson because he was getting too close to the truth. Sheriff Garrity turns himself in to the LAPD after he realizes that the authorities are closing in on him. Honey asks Detective Willis to handle the case, and the DEA launches a huge raid to get Zorrillo thanks to a tracker that Garrity placed on his car.
Thus, the search for Robertson’s murderer ends and justice gets served. It also puts a stop to the drug distribution operation that happened due to Zorrillo. However, the FBI takes the case from Honey’s hands which begins a conflict between the DA and the LA.
Finbar McShane killed the Gallagher family and then fled to Mexico. Bosch remains frustrated throughout the season because he is unable to give Siobhan Murphy the closure that she deserves. So, he and Ken Gurbizs, a former military friend of his, go on a vigilante quest to find him.
Maddie doesn’t approve of this mission because she knows that her father will kill the man who murdered a child. However, he promises her that he will not do it and will instead make sure that he rots in prison. But when Ken and Bosch get McShane, they have no other option but to kill him because a local informs authorities that some people have abducted McShane.
Bosch doesn’t want to pull the trigger so Gurbizs kills McShane. After all, there was no way they could get out of Mexico unless they took care of him. After returning, Bosch tells Siobhan about the killer’s fate, and she thanks him for his involvement.
The one storyline that isn’t resolved at the end of this season is Patrick Currey’s. Previously, it was revealed that he drugs his partners before being with them. His habits have led to a couple of deaths, but the councilman used his legal team to sweep it all under the carpet.
Currey gets into another such incident, which a bystander witnesses. She calls 911, which brings Vasquez and Maddie to the place. However, by the time they arrived, Currey had already left. Later, we see an unknown man hand him a binder which contains Honey’s talks with her therapist. This means that Currey could be a threat to Honey if the team goes after his exploits.
No, the series has been canceled and there won’t be a season 4 for the foreseeable future. Regarding the cancelation, Titus Welliver who plays Harry Bosch said to Entertainment Weekly:
“I was really taken aback. I don't think any of us anticipated that at all. So my immediate response was kind of shock, and then deep disappointment, a kind of disbelief. But some of it, as Harry would say, it's above my pay grade. It was not due to any kind of salary disputes or anything like that. A command decision was made, and that's the way it goes.”
However, Bosch will appear in the Renée Ballard spinoff. Regarding the spinoff he said:
“Here's what I will say: I don't think it's anything that's earth-shattering. I think it is just sort of some of the connective tissue between the universes. But I love working with Maggie. She's also someone who's a highly tuned machine, so she's a great pleasure to work with, but she's very, very funny.”
