What’s the Controversy Revolving Around Beast Games?

The controversy surrounding Beast Games centers on a lawsuit filed in September against MrBeast, his production company, and Amazon by five unnamed contestants from the show's first round.

The lawsuit alleges mistreatment, including deprivation of medical care, food, sleep, and hygiene necessities, along with claims of unpaid wages, overtime violations, sexual harassment, and exposure to dangerous conditions.

According to the lawsuit, participants endured poor living conditions, with some hospitalized and others suffering physical and mental complications. Female contestants also reported hostile working environments.

Contestants stated they received inadequate meals, consisting of cold oatmeal, raw vegetables, and a single boiled egg, though a representative for MrBeast claimed they were provided with three meals daily.

MrBeast responded to the allegations on Twitter, asserting the claims were exaggerated and promising to release behind-the-scenes footage after the show's debut to clarify the situation.

Is MrBeast Moving to Twitch for the Premiere of the Beast Games?

Yes, MrBeast is temporarily moving to Twitch for the premiere of Beast Games. Amazon Prime Video, the streaming platform hosting the show, is typically a subscription-based service. However, as part of a clever marketing strategy, Amazon, which also owns Twitch, is allowing MrBeast to host a special "watch party" on Twitch alongside content creator Jynxzi.

During this event, MrBeast will stream the premiere of Beast Games for free, giving everyone a chance to enjoy it without needing a Prime Video subscription. Additionally, viewers can earn rewards throughout the day by tuning into the Beast Games category on Twitch.

When & Where did Beast Games film?

The first round of filming took place from July 18–22, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, featuring 2,000 contestants and is set to debut on YouTube. The second round, with the remaining 1,000 contestants, was filmed in August 2024 at Downsview Park Studios in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Behind the Scenes

Beast Games is an upcoming American reality competition series created by Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast), Tyler Conklin, Sean Klitzner, and Mack Hopkins. Set to redefine the genre, the show boasts a staggering budget of over $100 million, with Donaldson taking on the roles of host and executive producer.

"My goal is to create the greatest show possible and prove that YouTubers and creators can thrive on other platforms," said MrBeast in a statement (Via THR). "Amazon has given me the creative freedom to make it happen, and I hope to make the YouTube community proud."

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, expressed her enthusiasm, praising Donaldson's global appeal and high-stakes concepts. "We’re thrilled to collaborate with Jimmy and his team to bring Beast Games to life for audiences worldwide," she said.

Vernon Sanders, Amazon MGM Studios’ head of television, echoed this excitement, calling Donaldson’s vision for the series "ambitious and groundbreaking." He credited Spotter’s Aaron DeBevoise and Nic Paul for helping kickstart this collaboration.
