Hamish Linklater will voice Batman in this show. Though this is his first time as Batman, he previously voiced a character in a 2021 episode of Showtime’s “Cinema Toast”. Linklater is known for his powerful roles, like the antagonist Father Paul in “Midnight Mass” and Clark DeBussy in “Legion.” His experience with both villains and heroic characters will help him bring the necessary depth and complexity to Batman.
The Joker won’t appear in Batman: Caped Crusader, allowing the series to spotlight other villains and explore fresh storylines.
By omitting the Joker, creators Bruce Timm and Matt Reeves can dive deeper into other characters and develop new plots. This absence opens up space for exploring Gotham’s complex criminal landscape. Fans are left wondering if the Joker might appear in future seasons, keeping their interest alive.
Batman’s cape and cowl symbolize his commitment to justice, driven by a deep need to honor his parents’ memory. A crusader is someone who campaigns for change, and Batman’s mission is to improve Gotham City and fight crime. He follows in his parents' footsteps, who used their wealth to uplift the city. By tackling crime, Batman pays tribute to his parents, earning him the title of the Caped Crusader.
While not a direct sequel, the show builds on the style and themes of “Batman: The Animated Series”, incorporating elements from the "Golden Age" of Batman comics. This blend gives it a fresh yet nostalgic vibe.
After Warner Bros. sold the streaming rights to Amazon, the series was picked up for two seasons. It’s currently unclear when the second season will debut or if it will also consist of 10 episodes.
