Austin Butler

Austin Butler is slowly but surely making his mark in Hollywood with projects like Dune: Part Two, The Bikeriders, and more. Now, the actor is stepping into the role of an iconic character, and it's not a comic book one at all. In this article, we will discuss what role Austin Butler is playing in an upcoming project of his, the director of the film, and more.

What is Austin Butler’s new role?

Austin Butler has been cast as the lead in Luca Guadagnino’s new American Psycho movie based on the book of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis, for Lionsgate. Variety confirmed the news and has also said that it won’t be a remake of the Christian Bale-starrer film.

Instead, it will be a fresh adaptation of Ellis’ novel. In the original film, which is set in the 1980s, Christian Bale starred as Patrick Bateman, a serial killer and a Wall Street banker. The film falls quite into the horror satire genre. But this time with Guadagnino on the helm, who is known for films like The Challengers, Queer, and more, the internet is already rife with speculations that the movie could have a larger erotic emphasis.

Not much is known about the new adaptation for now, but there were early rumors that Jacob Elordi was being considered for the project. But that’s clearly not the case anymore.
